The Easter Bank Holiday welcomed visitors in their droves as sportsmen and women, families and seasoned game fair goers descended on the weekend’s hugely anticipated Kelmarsh Country Show.
Visitors to this year’s show were treated to a variety of country inspired stores and entertainment, with lots on for every age and interest. With first-class entertainment over in the Main Arena including the Devil’s Horsemen and the amazing Essex Dog Display, to other popular features such as the Folk Roots Festival, the celebratory atmosphere across the weekend was infectious, with other features such as the Food Festival, animal displays, hot air balloons and trade stalls all very well received from a truly receptive audience.
The weekend’s event also played host to the first set of qualifying rounds in the Chudleys Gundog Championship and Terrier and Lurcher events with many confirming their places at this September’s Midland Game Fair. Congratulations go to James McLachlan who was crowned the 9th World Hunter Field Target Championship after he shot an impressive score of 115×120 over the weekend. Also, over at the BASC Clay Shooting Festival, kindly sponsored by BASC and Promatic, Chris Childerhouse was confirmed the overall High Gun on both Sunday and Monday, with impressive scores of a 60 straight on Sunday, followed by a 59 on the Monday.
Operations Director, Jerome Roberts welcomes in a successful start to the 2017 season. “The weekend’s events have once again exceeded expectations with thousands of people getting into the celebratory atmosphere and having fun.
